Lesson 6: Forming your own view

You’ve now learned the framework, seen how it applies to major cause areas, and examined its limitations. The question is: where do you come down?

This isn’t a question anyone else can answer for you. It depends on your empirical beliefs (how likely is AI catastrophe?), your moral commitments (how much does animal suffering matter?), and your tolerance for uncertainty (do you prefer proven interventions or high-variance bets?).

But “it depends on your views” isn’t a licence for vagueness. The skill of cause prioritisation is the skill of being explicit about which views drive which conclusions—so that when your views change, your priorities can update accordingly.
